Celebrating Tet on Phu Quoc Island
Tet is the most important holiday in Vietnam. During this time of the year, families unite for relaxation, entertainment and travel.
Located in Kien Giang Province, Phu Quoc Island is a great destination for those looking to leave the city during the holiday. Phu Quoc Island boasts beautiful, white sandy beaches, untouched forests, unique cultural activities and top-notch amenities. Saigontourist has designed several special programs for travelers to explore various Tet traditions with all guests staying at the Saigon-Phu Quoc Resort.
The first tour will include a number of cultural activities including a cooking class on glutinous rice cakes. After learning how to prepare the cakes, visitors will receive a special cake-making certificate and be photographed. The tour package is priced at VND999,000 for two persons. The tour begins on February 6 and runs until February 29.
In another tour, the company will transport guests to an old fishing village where they will celebrate Tet with locals. Tourists will learn firsthand how to make glutinous rice cakes and prepare a fresh fruit tray for ancestor worship. The tour will begin on February 6 and is priced VND2.5 million per person, which includes dinner, tour guide and fresh water.
Another tour will focus on markets and temples. The tour will stop at a few of the island’s markets and pagodas including Hung Co Tu, Su Muon and Cau palace; religious sites locals visit during the first days of the New Year. The tour will be organized from February 7 to 9 and priced at VND999,000 per person.
The company will provide another tour that includes fishing for luck in the New Year. A canoe will take travelers along Dong Duong Beach and then head offshore for fishing. The tour will be organized from February 7 to 28 and priced at VND3 million per person.
Lastly, a beachside buffet party will be held on New Year’s Eve where 50 special Vietnamese dishes will be served. The dinner will include dance and musical performances from famous artists.
The buffet is priced at US$49 per adult and US$24.50 per child.
